Carlene Exline is the owner, administrator and head teacher at MC Studio. She has been teaching children since 1996 through art, gymnastics & homeschooling. She began her teaching career at Fairmounts Center for the Arts. Then, in 1999, she opened A Garden's Way Gallery in Burton and taught art classes. In 2009, she began offering preschool classes, under the new name MC Studio. She licensed in 2014 as an arts based child care center and added before & after school care, as well as all day care.
Carlene is a Chagrin native and graduated from Chagrin Falls High School. She has an Associates of Arts degree, majoring in art and child development psychology. She also studied education at Ursuline College, and to take things a step further, she completed her CDA training in 2015. She is a 2006 graduate of Leadership Geauga, a USAG safety certified gymnastics coach, a member of NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children), and most recently she was appointed president of the Geauga Council for Arts & Culture.
She is an artist at heart! Knowing she wanted to be an artist since she was little, Carlene spent much of her early life studying and practicing art, and continues to this day through teaching. She has shown her work in numerous art shows and galleries.
On top of art, she also took an interest in gymnastics, helping her daughter, Cailyn, pursue her dreams of becoming a gymnast. She began coaching in 2006, and uses that experience as part of her curriculum here at the studio.
She currently resides in Auburn with her children, Cailyn, Christopher & Carson.

After graduating from Berkshire High School, she obtained her Associates of Arts degree from Lakeland Community College. While working as a mid-day aide & transportation aide for autistic children with the Berkshire Local School district, she changed her major, and earned her Bachelor's degree in psychology from Cleveland State University. She is currently re-enrolling in school to obtain her Master's degree in psychology, with the intent to obtain her PhD.
Besides working for Berkshire schools, she held the typical teenage job of baby-sitting for many local families, helping at the preschool at Burton Congregational Church (which her mom, Miss Jayne, ran for many years), working at Bellefaire JCB as an after school group therapist, director of an infant daycare center in Aurora, and most recently, an educational aide to a special needs student in the Garfield Heights City school district.
